Hi, we're Papr Walls!
My name is Maartje, and together with designer Inger, I create the children's wallpaper I've been looking for for years.
How it started
In 2017, I launched my very first webshop: a kids concept store featuring the most beautiful Scandinavian brands. As wallpaper began to play a more prominent role in interiors and the selection of children's wallpaper grew, I started a webshop solely dedicated to children's wallpaper, Trendy Children's Wallpaper, in 2023, and sold my kids concept store.
Nine years and thousands of rolls of wallpaper later, I've seen almost every children's wallpaper imaginable during those years. And as the saying goes, 'what's bred in the bone will out in the flesh,' I felt the urge to design my own prints.
In 2025, I met Inger, a graphic designer and, fortunately for me, also someone not afraid of a cheerful splash of color. We clicked immediately. And that's how Papr Walls was born: we officially launched in 2026.
Local inspiration
The plan to start my own wallpaper brand got a boost when I couldn't find any wallpaper for my own daughter: a tough 10-year-old girl with strong opinions who absolutely doesn't like flowers and pink. I had a hard time finding something for her room that did fit.
Relatable, I think. Because this is exactly what so many parents struggle with: children want something big, cool, and outspoken, and parents want something that also fits in with the rest of the house.
That's why at Papr Walls, we make wallpaper that makes both sides happy. Prints with personality for the kids — graffiti, big smileys, statement flowers — but in color palettes and styles that also belong in a beautifully decorated home. Cool and tasteful. Playful and mature enough to look at. Not a compromise, but the best of both worlds.

Handmade prints
We love handmade prints. The softness and slight irregularity of a painted line are so beautiful for a child's room — you just don't get that from a computer. That's why my mother (a painting teacher herself) hand-paints some of our prints. Inger then takes these paintings and transforms them into designs that we both fall in love with.
The result: wallpaper with character that you don't see on every street corner. With color, but never too busy. Playful, but also something that will still make you happy in five years' time.
